⁷ “If there is ^(A)a poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your ^[a]towns in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, ^(B)you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; ⁸ but ^(C)you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.

Cast Your Bread on the Waters

11 ^(A)Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you ^(B)will find it ^[a]after many days. ^2 (C)Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what ^(D)misfortune may occur on the earth.

⁴² And ^(A)whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these ^[a]little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

^40 (A)The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, ^(B)to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’

⁶ Now this I say, ^(A)he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows ^[a]bountifully will also reap ^[b]bountifully. ⁷ Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not ^(B)grudgingly or under compulsion, for ^(C)God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And ^(D)God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;

¹⁰ For ^(A)God is not unjust so as to forget ^(B)your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ^(C)ministered and in still ministering to the ^[a]saints.
