Don’t Tolerate Idolatry

⁶ “If your brother, the son of your mother,^[a] or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let’s go and worship other gods’—which neither you nor your ancestors have known,

¹³ that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said, ‘Let’s go and worship other gods,’ which you have not known,^(A)

³ and has gone to serve other gods^(A) by bowing in worship to the sun, moon, or all the stars in the sky^(B)—which I have forbidden^(C)—

³⁶ “The Lord will bring you and your king that you have appointed to a nation neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone.^(A)

⁶⁴ Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other,^(A) and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone,^(B) which neither you nor your ancestors have known.^(C)
