Deuteronomy 10:16-18

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskins of your hearts,[a] and be stiff-necked no longer. 17 For the Lord, your God, is the God of gods, the Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who has no favorites, accepts no bribes,(A) 18 who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and loves the resident alien, giving them food and clothing.(B)

- 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskins of your hearts: cf. 30:6; Jer 4:4; Rom 2:29. The “uncircumcised heart” (Lv 26:41; Jer 9:25; Ez 44:7, 9) is closed and unreceptive to God, just as “uncircumcised ears” (Jer 6:10) are closed to the word of the Lord, and “uncircumcised lips” (Ex 6:12, 30) are a hindrance to speaking on behalf of the Lord.

16 Circumcise(A) your hearts,(B) therefore, and do not be stiff-necked(C) any longer. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods(D) and Lord of lords,(E) the great God, mighty and awesome,(F) who shows no partiality(G) and accepts no bribes.(H) 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow,(I) and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.(J)
