28 Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts melt in fear. They say, ‘The people are stronger and taller(A) than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites(B) there.’”

21 At that time Joshua proceeded to exterminate the Anakim(A) from the hill country—Hebron, Debir, Anab—all the hill country of Judah and of Israel. Joshua completely destroyed them with their cities. 22 No Anakim were left in the land of the Israelites, except for some remaining in Gaza, Gath,(B) and Ashdod.
