21 Os ceir un wedi ei ladd o fewn y tir yr hwn y mae yr Arglwydd dy Dduw yn ei roddi i ti i’w etifeddu, yn gorwedd yn y maes, heb wybod pwy a’i lladdodd; 2 Yna aed dy henuriaid a’th farnwyr allan, a mesurant hyd y dinasoedd sydd o amgylch i’r lladdedig. 3 A bydded i’r ddinas nesaf at y lladdedig, sef henuriaid y ddinas honno, gymryd anner o’r gwartheg, yr hon ni weithiwyd â hi, ac ni thynnodd dan iau. 4 A dyged henuriaid y ddinas honno yr anner i ddyffryn garw, yr hwn ni lafuriwyd, ac ni heuwyd ynddo; ac yno torfynyglant yr anner yn y dyffryn. 5 A nesaed yr offeiriaid, meibion Lefi, (oherwydd yr Arglwydd dy Dduw a’u hetholodd hwynt i weini iddo ef, ac i fendigo yn enw yr Arglwydd,) ac wrth eu barn hwynt y terfynir pob ymryson a phob pla. 6 A holl henuriaid y ddinas honno, y rhai a fyddo nesaf at y lladdedig, a olchant eu dwylo uwchben yr anner a dorfynyglwyd yn y dyffryn. 7 A hwy a atebant ac a ddywedant, Ni thywalltodd ein dwylo ni y gwaed hwn, ac nis gwelodd ein llygaid. 8 Trugarha wrth dy bobl Israel, y rhai a waredaist, O Arglwydd, ac na ddyro waed gwirion yn erbyn dy bobl Israel. A maddeuir y gwaed iddynt hwy. 9 Felly y tynni ymaith affaith y gwaed gwirion o’th fysg, os ti a wnei yr uniawnder yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd.
10 Pan elych i ryfel yn erbyn dy elynion, a rhoddi o’r Arglwydd dy Dduw hwynt yn dy law di, a chaethgludo ohonot gaethglud ohonynt; 11 A gweled ohonot yn y gaethglud wraig brydweddol, a’i bod wrth dy fodd, i’w chymryd i ti yn wraig: 12 Yna dwg hi i fewn dy dŷ, ac eillied hi ei phen, a thorred ei hewinedd; 13 A diosged ddillad ei chaethiwed oddi amdani, a thriged yn dy dŷ di, ac wyled am ei thad a’i mam fis o ddyddiau: ac wedi hynny yr ei di ati, ac y byddi ŵr iddi, a hithau fydd wraig i ti. 14 Ac oni bydd hi wrth dy fodd; yna gollwng hi yn ôl ei hewyllys ei hun, a chan werthu na werth hi er arian; na chais elw ohoni, am i ti ei darostwng hi.
15 Pan fyddo i ŵr ddwy wraig, un yn gu, ac un yn gas; a phlanta o’r gu a’r gas feibion iddo ef, a bod y mab cyntaf‐anedig o’r un gas: 16 Yna bydded, yn y dydd y rhanno efe ei etifeddiaeth rhwng ei feibion y rhai fyddant iddo, na ddichon efe wneuthur yn gyntaf‐anedig fab y gu o flaen mab y gas, yr hwn sydd gyntaf‐anedig; 17 Ond mab y gas yr hwn sydd gyntaf‐anedig a gydnebydd efe, gan roddi iddo ef y ddeuparth o’r hyn oll a gaffer yn eiddo ef: o achos hwn yw dechreuad ei nerth ef; iddo y bydd braint y cyntaf‐anedig.
18 Ond o bydd i ŵr fab cyndyn ac anufudd, heb wrando ar lais ei dad, neu ar lais ei fam; a phan geryddant ef, ni wrendy arnynt: 19 Yna ei dad a’i fam a ymaflant ynddo, ac a’i dygant at henuriaid ei ddinas, ac i borth ei drigfan; 20 A dywedant wrth henuriaid ei ddinas ef, Ein mab hwn sydd gyndyn ac anufudd, heb wrando ar ein llais; glwth a meddwyn yw efe. 21 Yna holl ddynion ei ddinas a’i llabyddiant ef â meini, fel y byddo farw: felly y tynni ymaith y drwg o’th fysg; a holl Israel a glywant, ac a ofnant.
22 Ac o bydd mewn gŵr bechod yn haeddu barnedigaeth angau, a’i farwolaethu a chrogi ohonot ef wrth bren; 23 Na thriged ei gelain dros nos wrth y pren, ond gan gladdu ti a’i cleddi ef o fewn y dydd hwnnw: oherwydd melltith Dduw sydd i’r hwn a grogir: ac na haloga dy dir y mae yr Arglwydd dy Dduw yn ei roddi i ti yn etifeddiaeth.

Atonement for an Unsolved Murder
21 If someone is found slain, lying in a field in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who the killer was,(A) 2 your elders and judges shall go out and measure the distance from the body to the neighboring towns. 3 Then the elders of the town nearest the body shall take a heifer that has never been worked and has never worn a yoke(B) 4 and lead it down to a valley that has not been plowed or planted and where there is a flowing stream. There in the valley they are to break the heifer’s neck. 5 The Levitical priests shall step forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister and to pronounce blessings(C) in the name of the Lord and to decide all cases of dispute and assault.(D) 6 Then all the elders of the town nearest the body shall wash their hands(E) over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley, 7 and they shall declare: “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it done. 8 Accept this atonement for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, Lord, and do not hold your people guilty of the blood of an innocent person.” Then the bloodshed will be atoned for,(F) 9 and you will have purged(G) from yourselves the guilt of shedding innocent blood, since you have done what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
Marrying a Captive Woman
10 When you go to war against your enemies and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands(H) and you take captives,(I) 11 if you notice among the captives a beautiful(J) woman and are attracted to her,(K) you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head,(L) trim her nails 13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month,(M) then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.(N)
The Right of the Firstborn
15 If a man has two wives,(O) and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons but the firstborn is the son of the wife he does not love,(P) 16 when he wills his property to his sons, he must not give the rights of the firstborn to the son of the wife he loves in preference to his actual firstborn, the son of the wife he does not love.(Q) 17 He must acknowledge the son of his unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double(R) share of all he has. That son is the first sign of his father’s strength.(S) The right of the firstborn belongs to him.(T)
A Rebellious Son
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious(U) son(V) who does not obey his father and mother(W) and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death.(X) You must purge the evil(Y) from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.(Z)
Various Laws
22 If someone guilty of a capital offense(AA) is put to death and their body is exposed on a pole, 23 you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight.(AB) Be sure to bury(AC) it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.(AD) You must not desecrate(AE) the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
