17 Nac abertha i’r Arglwydd dy Dduw ych neu ddafad y byddo arno anaf, neu ddim gwrthuni: canys casbeth yr Arglwydd dy Dduw yw hynny.

Pan gaffer yn dy blith di, o fewn un o’th byrth y rhai y mae yr Arglwydd dy Dduw yn eu rhoddi i ti, ŵr neu wraig a wnaeth ddrygioni yng ngolwg yr Arglwydd dy Dduw, gan droseddu ei gyfamod ef, Ac a aeth ac a wasanaethodd dduwiau dieithr, ac a ymgrymodd iddynt, i’r haul, neu i’r lleuad, neu i holl lu y nefoedd, yr hyn ni orchmynnais; Pan ddangoser i ti, a chlywed ohonot, yna cais yn dda: ac wele, os gwirionedd yw, a bod yn sicr wneuthur y ffieidd‐dra hyn yn Israel; Yna dwg allan y gŵr hwnnw, neu y wraig honno, a wnaethant y peth drygionus hyn, i’th byrth, sef y gŵr neu y wraig, a llabyddia hwynt â meini, fel y byddont feirw. Wrth dystiolaeth dau o dystion, neu dri o dystion, y rhoddir i farwolaeth yr hwn a fyddo marw: na rodder ef i farwolaeth wrth dystiolaeth un tyst. Llaw y tystion a fydd arno yn gyntaf i’w farwolaethu ef, a llaw yr holl bobl wedi hynny: a thi a dynni ymaith y drwg o’th blith.

Os bydd peth mewn barn yn rhy galed i ti, rhwng gwaed a gwaed, rhwng hawl a hawl, neu rhwng pla a phla, mewn pethau ymrafaelus o fewn dy byrth; yna cyfod, a dos i fyny i’r lle a ddewiso yr Arglwydd dy Dduw: A dos at yr offeiriaid y Lefiaid, ac at y barnwr a fyddo yn y dyddiau hynny, ac ymofyn; a hwy a ddangosant i ti reol y farnedigaeth. 10 A gwna yn ôl rheol y gair a ddangosant i ti, o’r lle hwnnw a ddewiso yr Arglwydd; ac edrych am wneuthur yn ôl yr hyn oll a ddysgant i ti. 11 Yn ôl rheol y gyfraith a ddysgont i ti, ac yn ôl y farn a ddywedont i ti, y gwnei: na chilia oddi wrth y peth a ddangosont i ti, i’r tu deau nac i’r tu aswy. 12 A’r gŵr a wnêl mewn rhyfyg, heb wrando ar yr offeiriad sydd yn sefyll yno i wasanaethu yr Arglwydd dy Dduw, neu ar y barnwr; yna rhodder i farwolaeth y gŵr hwnnw: a thyn ymaith y drwg o Israel. 13 A’r holl bobl a glywant, ac a ofnant; ac ni ryfygant mwy.

14 Pan ddelych i’r tir y mae yr Arglwydd dy Dduw yn ei roddi i ti, a’i feddiannu, a thrigo ynddo, os dywedi, Gosodaf arnaf frenin, megis yr holl genhedloedd sydd o’m hamgylch: 15 Gan osod gosod arnat yn frenin yr hwn a ddewiso yr Arglwydd dy Dduw: o blith dy frodyr y gosodi arnat frenin; ni elli roddi arnat ŵr dieithr yr hwn nid yw frawd i ti. 16 Ond nac amlhaed iddo feirch, ac na ddychweled efe y bobl i’r Aifft i amlhau meirch; gan i’r Arglwydd ddywedyd wrthych, Na chwanegwch ddychwelyd y ffordd honno mwy. 17 Ac nac amlhaed iddo wragedd, fel na ŵyro ei galon; ac nac amlhaed arian ac aur lawer iddo. 18 A phan eisteddo ar deyrngadair ei frenhiniaeth, ysgrifenned iddo gopi o’r gyfraith hon mewn llyfr, allan o’r hwn sydd gerbron yr offeiriaid y Lefiaid. 19 A bydded gydag ef, a darllened arno holl ddyddiau ei fywyd: fel y dysgo ofni yr Arglwydd ei Dduw, i gadw holl eiriau y gyfraith hon, a’r deddfau hyn, i’w gwneuthur hwynt: 20 Fel na ddyrchafo ei galon uwchlaw ei frodyr, ac na chilio oddi wrth y gorchymyn, i’r tu deau nac i’r tu aswy: fel yr estynno ddyddiau yn ei frenhiniaeth efe a’i feibion yng nghanol Israel.

17 Do not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect(A) or flaw in it, for that would be detestable(B) to him.(C)

If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God in violation of his covenant,(D) and contrary to my command(E) has worshiped other gods,(F) bowing down to them or to the sun(G) or the moon or the stars in the sky,(H) and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true(I) and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,(J) take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death.(K) On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.(L) The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting that person to death,(M) and then the hands of all the people.(N) You must purge the evil(O) from among you.

Law Courts

If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge(P)—whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults(Q)—take them to the place the Lord your God will choose.(R) Go to the Levitical(S) priests and to the judge(T) who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the verdict.(U) 10 You must act according to the decisions they give you at the place the Lord will choose. Be careful to do everything they instruct you to do. 11 Act according to whatever they teach you and the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right or to the left.(V) 12 Anyone who shows contempt(W) for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering(X) there to the Lord your God is to be put to death.(Y) You must purge the evil from Israel.(Z) 13 All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.(AA)

The King

14 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you and have taken possession(AB) of it and settled in it,(AC) and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”(AD) 15 be sure to appoint(AE) over you a king the Lord your God chooses. He must be from among your fellow Israelites.(AF) Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not an Israelite. 16 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses(AG) for himself(AH) or make the people return to Egypt(AI) to get more of them,(AJ) for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.”(AK) 17 He must not take many wives,(AL) or his heart will be led astray.(AM) He must not accumulate(AN) large amounts of silver and gold.(AO)

18 When he takes the throne(AP) of his kingdom, he is to write(AQ) for himself on a scroll a copy(AR) of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. 19 It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life(AS) so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees(AT) 20 and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law(AU) to the right or to the left.(AV) Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.(AW)
