5 When a man is newly married, he need not go into[a] the army nor be obligated in any way; he must be free to stay at home for a full year and bring joy to[b] the wife he has married.

5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married.(A)
