14 Lord, you didn’t hold back from bringing this trouble on us. You always do what is right. But we haven’t obeyed you.

15 “Lord our God, you used your mighty hand to bring your people out of Egypt. You made a name for yourself. It is still great to this day. But we have sinned. We’ve done what is wrong. 16 Lord, you saved your people before. So turn your great anger away from Jerusalem again. After all, it is your city. It’s your holy mountain. You have made those who live around us think little of Jerusalem and your people. That’s because we have sinned. Our people before us did evil things too.

14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster(A) on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does;(B) yet we have not obeyed him.(C)

15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand(D) and who made for yourself a name(E) that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts,(F) turn away(G) your anger and your wrath(H) from Jerusalem,(I) your city, your holy hill.(J) Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn(K) to all those around us.
