15 But those men perceiving the king's design, said to him: Know thou, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, that no decree which the king hath made, may be altered.

16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of the lions. And the king said to Daniel: Thy God, whom thou always servest, he will deliver thee.

17 And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den: which the king sealed with his own ring, and with the ring of his nobles, that nothing should be done against Daniel.

15 Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him, “Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.”(A)

16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den.(B) The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue(C) you!”

17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed(D) it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed.
