Daniel 6:14-16
Good News Translation
14 When the king heard this, he was upset and did his best to find some way to rescue Daniel. He kept trying until sunset. 15 Then Daniel's enemies came back to the king and said to him, “Your Majesty knows that according to the laws of the Medes and Persians no order which the king issues can be changed.”
16 (A)So the king gave orders for Daniel to be taken and thrown into the pit filled with lions. He said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve so loyally, rescue you.”

New International Version
14 When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed;(A) he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him.
15 Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him, “Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.”(B)
16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den.(C) The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue(D) you!”
