GOD’S WORD Translation
34 As they are being defeated, they will get a little help, but many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise people will be defeated in order to refine, purify, and make them white until the end times. But the appointed time is still to come.
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will highly honor himself above every god. He will say amazing things against the God of gods. He will succeed until God’s anger is over, because what has been decided must be done.

34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere(A) will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined,(B) purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
The King Who Exalts Himself
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself(C) above every god and will say unheard-of things(D) against the God of gods.(E) He will be successful until the time of wrath(F) is completed, for what has been determined must take place.(G)
