Amos 8:2-4

2 He said, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.”[a] Then the Lord said to me,
“The end[b] has come upon my people Israel;
I will never again pass them by.
3 The songs of the temple[c] shall become wailings in that day,”
says the Lord God;
“the dead bodies shall be many,
cast out in every place. Be silent!”
4 Hear this, you that trample on the needy,
and bring to ruin the poor of the land,

2 “What do you see,(A) Amos?(B)” he asked.
“A basket(C) of ripe fruit,” I answered.
Then the Lord said to me, “The time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(D)
3 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “the songs in the temple will turn to wailing.[a](E) Many, many bodies—flung everywhere! Silence!(F)”
