³⁴ A Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was respected by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered the men^[a] to be taken outside for a little while.^(A)

³ He^(A) continued, “I am a Jewish man, born in Tarsus of Cilicia but brought up in this city^[a] at the feet of Gamaliel^(B) and educated according to the strict view of our patriarchal law. Being zealous for God, just as all of you are today,^(C)

¹⁴ I advanced in Judaism beyond many contemporaries among my people, because I was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.^(A)

⁴ You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.^(A)
