¹¹ And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man ^(A)of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying,

³⁹ Paul replied, ^(A)“I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city. I beg you, permit me to speak to the people.”

11 I ask, then, ^(A)has God rejected his people? By no means! For ^(B)I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,^[a] a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

²² Are they Hebrews? ^(A)So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I.

^5 (A)circumcised on the eighth day, ^(B)of the people of Israel, ^(C)of the tribe of Benjamin, ^(D)a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, ^(E)a Pharisee;
