6 And God spoke to this effect—that (A)his offspring would (B)be sojourners in a land belonging to others, who would enslave them and afflict them (C)four hundred years. 7 ‘But (D)I will judge the nation that they serve,’ said God, ‘and after that they shall come out (E)and worship me in this place.’

6 God spoke to him in this way: ‘For four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated.(A) 7 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.’[a](B)
