But one day some of the men from the Jewish cult of “The Freedmen” started an argument with him, and they were soon joined by Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria in Egypt, and the Turkish provinces of Cilicia, and Asia Minor. 10 But none of them was able to stand against Stephen’s wisdom and spirit.

11 So they brought in some men to lie about him, claiming they had heard Stephen curse Moses, and even God.

Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene(A) and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia(B) and Asia(C)—who began to argue with Stephen. 10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.(D)

11 Then they secretly(E) persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”(F)
