2 These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. 3 They arrested them and, since it was already evening, put them in jail until morning. 4 But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of men who believed now totaled about 5,000.

2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.(A) 3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail(B) until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew(C) to about five thousand.
