2 because they were provoked that they were teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection from the dead, using Jesus as the example.[a](A) 3 So they seized them and put them in custody until the next day, since it was already evening. 4 But many of those who heard the message believed, and the number of the men came to about 5,000.

2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.(A) 3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail(B) until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew(C) to about five thousand.
