Acts 28:5-7

5 And he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.
6 But they were waiting to see when he should have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly; but after they had waited a great while and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.
7 In the same quarters were possessions of a principal man of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and lodged us three days courteously.

New International Version
5 But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.(A) 6 The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.(B)
7 There was an estate nearby that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and showed us generous hospitality for three days.
