24 Some were convinced[a] by what he said,[b] but others refused[c] to believe. 25 So they began to leave,[d] unable to agree among themselves, after Paul made one last statement: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly to your ancestors[e] through the prophet Isaiah 26 when he said,
‘Go to this people and say,
“You will keep on hearing,[f] but will never understand,
and you will keep on looking,[g] but will never perceive.

26 “‘Go to this people and say,
“You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”
