8 For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection,(A) and neither angel nor spirit, but the Pharisees affirm them all.
9 The shouting grew loud, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’(B) party got up and argued vehemently, “We find nothing evil in this man.(C) What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?” [a](D)
10 When the dispute became violent, the commander feared that Paul might be torn apart by them and ordered the troops to go down, take him away from them, and bring him into the barracks.(E)

8 (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection,(A) and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things.)
9 There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees(B) stood up and argued vigorously. “We find nothing wrong with this man,”(C) they said. “What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”(D) 10 The dispute became so violent that the commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them. He ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force and bring him into the barracks.(E)
