2 (And when they heard that he spoke in the Hebrew tongue to them, they were the more silent.) And he said,
3 “I am verily a man who am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city of Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taughtaccording to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
4 And I persecuted this Way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,

New International Version
2 When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic,(A) they became very quiet.
Then Paul said: 3 “I am a Jew,(B) born in Tarsus(C) of Cilicia,(D) but brought up in this city. I studied under(E) Gamaliel(F) and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors.(G) I was just as zealous(H) for God as any of you are today. 4 I persecuted(I) the followers of this Way(J) to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison,(K)
