3 And having done three[a] months there, a plot having been made against him by the Jews while he was about to put-to-sea for Syria— he became of a mind that he should be returning through Macedonia[b]. 4 And Sopater, son of Pyrrhus, a Berean, was accompanying him; and Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians; and Gaius, a Derbean; and Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus, Asians. 5 But these[c], having gone ahead, were awaiting us[d] in Troas.

New International Version
3 where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him(A) just as he was about to sail for Syria,(B) he decided to go back through Macedonia.(C) 4 He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus(D) and Secundus from Thessalonica,(E) Gaius(F) from Derbe, Timothy(G) also, and Tychicus(H) and Trophimus(I) from the province of Asia.(J) 5 These men went on ahead and waited for us(K) at Troas.(L)
