12 he[a] went and took the bones of Saul and of his son Jonathan[b] from the leaders[c] of Jabesh Gilead. (They had secretly taken[d] them from the plaza at Beth Shan. It was there that Philistines[e] publicly exposed their corpses[f] after[g] they[h] had killed Saul at Gilboa.)
