²⁹ In the time of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser^(A) king of Assyria came and took Ijon,^(B) Abel Beth Maakah, Janoah, Kedesh and Hazor. He took Gilead and Galilee, including all the land of Naphtali,^(C) and deported^(D) the people to Assyria.

¹¹ The king^(A) of Assyria deported Israel to Assyria and settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in towns of the Medes.^{(B) 12} This happened because they had not obeyed the Lord their God, but had violated his covenant^(C)—all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded.^(D) They neither listened to the commands^(E) nor carried them out.
