¹⁶ So it was, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, “Have we made you the king’s counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?”

Then the prophet ceased, and said, “I know that God has ^(A)determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

⁵ So they said to Jeremiah, ^(A)“Let the Lord be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not do according to everything which the Lord your God sends us by you. ⁶ Whether it is ^[a]pleasing or ^[b]displeasing, we will ^(B)obey the voice of the Lord our God to whom we send you, ^(C)that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the Lord our God.”
