These women always want to learn something new, but they never can discover the truth. (A) Just as Jannes and Jambres[a] opposed Moses, these people are enemies of the truth. Their minds are sick, and their faith isn't real.

  1. 3.8 Jannes and Jambres: These names are not found in the Old Testament. But many believe these were the names of the two Egyptian magicians who opposed Moses when he wanted to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt (see Exodus 7.11,22).

They are the kind who worm their way(A) into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.(B) Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses,(C) so also these teachers oppose(D) the truth. They are men of depraved minds,(E) who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.
