⁹ whose ^[a]coming is in accord with the working of ^(A)Satan, with all power and ^[b](B)signs and false wonders, ¹⁰ and with ^[c]all the deception of unrighteousness for ^(C)those who perish, because they did not receive the love of ^(D)the truth so as to be saved. ¹¹ And for this reason ^(E)God sends upon them a ^[d](F)deluding influence so that they will believe ^[e]what is false, ¹² in order that they all may be ^[f]judged who ^(G)did not believe the truth, but ^[g](H)took pleasure in unrighteousness.

^13 (I)But we should always give thanks to God for you, ^(J)brothers beloved by the Lord, because ^(K)God has chosen you ^[h]as the first fruits ^(L)for salvation ^(M)through sanctification ^[i]by the Spirit and faith in the truth. ^14 [j]It was for this He ^(N)called you through ^(O)our gospel, ^[k]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁵ So then, brothers, ^(P)stand firm and ^(Q)hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether ^(R)by word of mouth or ^(S)by letter ^[l]from us.

^16 (T)Now may our Lord Jesus Christ ^(U)Himself and God our Father, who has ^(V)loved us and given us eternal comfort and ^(W)good hope by grace, ^17 (X)encourage your hearts and ^(Y)strengthen them in every good work and word.

Some Will Fall Away

4 But ^(A)the Spirit explicitly says that ^(B)in later times some will ^[a]fall away from the faith, paying attention to ^(C)deceitful spirits and ^(D)doctrines of demons,

²⁴ But I say to you, the rest who are in ^(A)Thyatira, who do not have this teaching, who have not known the ^(B)deep things of Satan, as they call them—I ^(C)place no other burden on you.
