⁶ Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Syrians ^(A)became servants to David and brought tribute. ^(B)And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.

²⁴ And he gathered men about him and became leader of a marauding band, ^(A)after the killing by David. And they went to Damascus and lived there and made him king in Damascus.

⁵ And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king ^(A)of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians. ⁶ Then David put garrisons^[a] in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the Lord gave victory to David^[b] wherever he went.
