3 David also defeated Hadadezer(A) son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who went to restore his control at the Euphrates River. 4 David captured 1,700 horsemen[a] and 20,000 foot soldiers from him, and he hamstrung all the horses(B) and kept 100 chariots.[b]
5 When the Arameans of Damascus(C) came to assist King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 Aramean men.

New International Version
3 Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer(A) son of Rehob, king of Zobah,(B) when he went to restore his monument at[a] the Euphrates(C) River. 4 David captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers[b] and twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung(D) all but a hundred of the chariot horses.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus(E) came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.
