2 Samuel 8:13-15
Contemporary English Version
13 (A) David fought the Edomite[a] army in Salt Valley and killed 18,000 of their soldiers. When he returned, he built a monument.[b] 14 David left soldiers all through Edom, and the people of Edom had to accept him as their ruler.
Wherever David went, the Lord helped him.

New International Version
13 And David became famous(A) after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites[a] in the Valley of Salt.(B)
14 He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites(C) became subject to David.(D) The Lord gave David victory(E) wherever he went.(F)
