²⁷ When Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gateway to speak with him privately, and there he stabbed him in the stomach. So he died on account of the blood of Asahel, Joab’s^[a] brother.^(A)

⁶ They came inside the house as though to take wheat,^[a] and they struck him in the stomach; then Rechab and his brother Baanah escaped.^(A)

¹⁰ But Amasa did not notice the sword in Joab’s hand; Joab struck him in the belly so that his entrails poured out on the ground, and he died. He did not strike a second blow.
