¹⁸ then I will establish your royal throne as I cut a covenant with your father David, saying, ‘^[a](A)You shall not have a man cut off as ruler in Israel.’

⁷ However, Yahweh was not willing to make the house of David a ruin because of the covenant which He had cut with David, ^(A)and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
