18 Then she spake thus, [a]They spake in the old time, saying, They should ask of Abel: and so they have continued.

19 I am [b]one of them that are peaceable, and faithful in Israel: and thou goest about to destroy a city, and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou devour the inheritance of the Lord?

20 And Joab answered, and said, God forbid, God forbid it me, that I should devour, or destroy it.
