3 David also told his men and their families to come and live in the villages near Hebron.
4 (A) The people of Judah met with David at Hebron and poured olive oil on his head to show that he was their new king. Then they told David, “The people from Jabesh in Gilead buried Saul.”
5 David sent messengers to tell them:
The Lord bless you! You were kind enough to bury Saul your ruler,

3 David also took the men who were with him,(A) each with his family, and they settled in Hebron(B) and its towns. 4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron,(C) and there they anointed(D) David king over the tribe of Judah.
When David was told that it was the men from Jabesh Gilead(E) who had buried Saul, 5 he sent messengers to them to say to them, “The Lord bless(F) you for showing this kindness to Saul your master by burying him.
