9 All the people among all the tribes of Israel were arguing: “The king delivered us from the grasp of our enemies,(A) and he rescued us from the grasp of the Philistines,(B) but now he has fled from the land because of Absalom.(C) 10 But Absalom, the man we anointed over us, has died in battle. So why do you say nothing about restoring the king?”

9 Throughout the tribes of Israel, all the people were arguing among themselves, saying, “The king delivered us from the hand of our enemies; he is the one who rescued us from the hand of the Philistines.(A) But now he has fled the country to escape from Absalom;(B) 10 and Absalom, whom we anointed to rule over us, has died in battle. So why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?”

9 And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.
10 And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?
