2 Samuel 19:22-24
New English Translation
22 But David said, “What do we have in common,[a] you sons of Zeruiah? You are like my enemy today! Should anyone be put to death in Israel today? Don’t I know that today I am king over Israel?” 23 The king said to Shimei, “You won’t die.” The king vowed an oath[b] concerning this.
24 Now Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson,[c] came down to meet the king. From the day the king had left until the day he safely[d] returned, Mephibosheth[e] had not cared for his feet[f] nor trimmed[g] his mustache nor washed his clothes.

New International Version
22 David replied, “What does this have to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah?(A) What right do you have to interfere? Should anyone be put to death in Israel today?(B) Don’t I know that today I am king over Israel?” 23 So the king said to Shimei, “You shall not die.” And the king promised him on oath.(C)
24 Mephibosheth,(D) Saul’s grandson, also went down to meet the king. He had not taken care of his feet or trimmed his mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he returned safely.
