Then Absalom would say, “Oh, that someone would[a] appoint me as judge in the land, that anyone[b] might come to me who had a legal dispute or a case, and I would give him justice.” It happened whenever anyone drew near to do obeisance to him, that he would stretch his hand and take hold of him and kiss him. Absalom did like this to all of Israel who came to the king for judgment; so Absalom stole the hearts[c] of the people of Israel.

Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him. Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts(B) of the people of Israel.
