²⁰ Then David arose from the earth ^(A)and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the Lord ^(B)and worshipped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate.

² And Joab sent to ^(A)Tekoa and brought from there a wise woman and said to her, “Pretend to be a mourner and put on mourning garments. ^(B)Do not anoint yourself with oil, but behave like a woman who has been mourning many days for the dead.
