2 Samuel 1:2-4

2 The next day, a man arrived from the camp of Saul's army.[a] He had dirt on his head and he had torn his clothes. When the man met David, he threw himself down on the ground to give honour to David.
3 David asked him, ‘Where have you come from?’
The man replied, ‘I have run from the Israelite army's camp.’
4 David said, ‘Tell me what happened in the battle.’
The man replied, ‘The Israelites ran away and the enemy killed many of them. Even Saul and his son Jonathan are dead.’

- 1:2 Saul's camp was about 130 kilometres (80 miles) north of Ziklag. The young man would have taken about three days to walk or run that distance.

2 On the third day a man(A) arrived from Saul’s camp with his clothes torn and dust on his head.(B) When he came to David, he fell(C) to the ground to pay him honor.(D)
3 “Where have you come from?” David asked him.
He answered, “I have escaped from the Israelite camp.”
4 “What happened?” David asked. “Tell me.”
“The men fled from the battle,” he replied. “Many of them fell and died. And Saul and his son Jonathan are dead.”
