¹¹ Then David took hold of his clothes and tore them,^(A) and all the men with him did the same.

³¹ David then ordered Joab and all the people who were with him, “Tear your clothes, put on sackcloth,^(A) and mourn over Abner.” And King David walked behind the coffin.^[a]

³ When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe, pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.^(A)
