6 So Jehu got up, and they went into the house. And he poured the oil on Jehu’s head and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you king over the people of the Lord, over Israel. 7 You shall strike the house of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, [who have died] at the hands of Jezebel. 8 For the entire house of Ahab shall perish, and I will cut off from Ahab every male, both bond and free, in Israel.

6 Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil(A) on Jehu’s head and declared, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord’s people Israel. 7 You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge(B) the blood of my servants(C) the prophets and the blood of all the Lord’s servants shed by Jezebel.(D) 8 The whole house(E) of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male(F) in Israel—slave or free.[a]
