32 Therefore thus says Adonai concerning the king of Assyria:

“He will not come to this city,
    or shoot an arrow there,
    or come before it with a shield,
    or throw up a siege-ramp against it.
33 By the way that he came,
by the same he will return,
and he will not come into this city”
—it is a declaration of Adonai.
34 “For I will defend this city to save it,
    for My own sake, and for My servant David’s sake.”

He will not come before it with shield
    or build a siege ramp against it.
33 By the way that he came he will return;(A)
    he will not enter this city,
declares the Lord.
34 I will defend(B) this city and save it,
    for my sake and for the sake of David(C) my servant.’”
