12 (This was the promise of the Lord which he gave to Jehu, “Your sons shall sit upon the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” And so it came to pass.)
Shallum Reigns over Israel
13 Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzzi′ah king of Judah, and he reigned one month in Samar′ia. 14 Then Men′ahem the son of Gadi came up from Tirzah and came to Samar′ia, and he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh in Samar′ia and slew him, and reigned in his stead.

12 So the word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled:(A) “Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”[a]
Shallum King of Israel
13 Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria(B) one month. 14 Then Menahem son of Gadi went from Tirzah(C) up to Samaria. He attacked Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, assassinated(D) him and succeeded him as king.
