12 This was exactly what the Lord spoke to Jehu: Your descendants will sit on Israel’s throne for four generations. And that’s exactly what happened.
Shallum rules Israel
13 Shallum, Jabesh’s son, became king in the thirty-ninth year of Judah’s King Uzziah. He ruled for one month in Samaria. 14 Menahem, Gadi’s son, went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria. He struck down Jabesh’s son Shallum in Samaria, murdering him. Menahem then succeeded him as king.

12 So the word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled:(A) “Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”[a]
Shallum King of Israel
13 Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned in Samaria(B) one month. 14 Then Menahem son of Gadi went from Tirzah(C) up to Samaria. He attacked Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, assassinated(D) him and succeeded him as king.
