10 Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him down in public and killed him, and reigned in place of him. 11 Now the rest of the deeds of Zechariah are written in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel. 12 This was the promise of the Lord that he gave to Jehu, “Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” And so it happened.

10 Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah. He attacked him in front of the people,[a] assassinated(A) him and succeeded him as king. 11 The other events of Zechariah’s reign are written in the book of the annals(B) of the kings of Israel. 12 So the word of the Lord spoken to Jehu was fulfilled:(C) “Your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”[b]
