New International Reader's Version
22 Hazael, the king of Aram, treated Israel badly. He did it the whole time Jehoahaz was king. 23 But the Lord helped Israel. He was tender and kind to them. He showed concern for them. He did all these things because of the covenant he had made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To this day he hasn’t been willing to destroy Israel. And he hasn’t driven them out of his land.
24 Hazael, the king of Aram, died. His son Ben-Hadad became the next king after him.

New International Version
22 Hazael king of Aram oppressed(A) Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz. 23 But the Lord was gracious to them and had compassion and showed concern for them because of his covenant(B) with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To this day he has been unwilling to destroy(C) them or banish them from his presence.(D)
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and Ben-Hadad(E) his son succeeded him as king.
