5 ¶ For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
6 Nevertheless God, who comforts the humble, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7 and not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me so that I rejoiced the more.

5 For when we came into Macedonia,(A) we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn(B)—conflicts on the outside, fears within.(C) 6 But God, who comforts the downcast,(D) comforted us by the coming of Titus,(E) 7 and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever.
