¹¹ For consider how much diligence this very thing—this grieving as God wills—has produced in you: what a desire to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what deep longing, what zeal, what justice! In every way you showed yourselves to be pure^(A) in this matter.

² For I am jealous^(A) for you with a godly jealousy,^(B) because I have promised you in marriage to one husband—to present a pure^(C) virgin to Christ.

²² Don’t be too quick to appoint^[a](A) anyone as an elder, and don’t share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.^(B)

⁵ to be self-controlled, pure, workers at home, kind, and in submission^(A) to their husbands, so that God’s word^(B) will not be slandered.
