12 the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him: “I have answered[a] your prayer and chosen this place to be my temple where sacrifices are to be made.[b] 13 When[c] I close up the sky[d] so that it doesn’t rain, or command locusts to devour the land’s vegetation,[e] or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who belong to me,[f] humble themselves, pray, seek to please me,[g] and repudiate their sinful practices,[h] then I will respond[i] from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.[j]

13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain,(D) or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name,(E) will humble(F) themselves and pray and seek my face(G) and turn(H) from their wicked ways, then I will hear(I) from heaven, and I will forgive(J) their sin and will heal(K) their land.
